Artistic & Symbolic Value

The Kinko Sennin theme is highly symbolic in Japanese and Chinese culture, representing enlightenment and the reward for virtue (the carp often symbolizes perseverance).  The meticulous carving on the pendant, complete with dark contrast lines, demonstrates the high skill of the unknown carver identified by the seal.
